i'm not excited about halloween this year. i think in part because of my halloween costume partner isn't here! (jordy... happy anniversary! we've been together five years now.) friday night steph came down from kamloops so we went for burgers and then to fright nights at the pne. megan and i lost our roller coaster virginity! it was pretty scary but i love the feeling of my stomach being up in my throat. the haunted houses were pretty cool. i'll admit that i screamed twice.

last night roddy and i were talking about what we could do for last minute costumes. jordy, you will love what we came up with. he can be buster and i can be lucille two from arrested development. liza minnelli is coming to vancouver!

yesterday was probably the most exciting day of my life in this house. i thought i was going to have another lazy sort of unemployed day... but i was so wrong. around 1:00 i heard some noise, but i had no idea what it was. a few minutes later there were so many police outside of my house and they had the biggest guns i have ever seen in real life. they hand to hold on to them with two hands. so i ran into adam's room (he had JUST finished wanking), and we both ran right out our front door to see what was going on. we got to the sidewalk and a police men with the big guns screamed "GET BACK IN THE FUCKING HOUSE!". so we sprinted back inside. we opened our windows so we hear what was going on. we lay on my bed and watched them wander up and down our street. then we went to the backyard and the police were there too! they had german shepherds! they are so big and scary. my aunt and uncle use to bread them for the police. we could see someone on the ground with a bunch of police officers on top of them. it was crazy. after about two solid hours of this, i ventured outside again. first i went into our ally. police tape everywhere. the front yard, same deal. and there was a helicopter flying too. it was crazy. i really wanted to know what was going on so eventually i went to the end of the block to talk to a police man. he was super nice. and told be some info. i offered him some coffee, hot chocolate or organic tea. he looked at me and asked "what's organic?".

here's the article in the vancouver sun from this morning.

VANCOUVER - Police arrested three men Wednesday afternoon following a home invasion involving gunfire at a house in the 100-block of East 46th near Main Street.

One man in the house was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Vancouver police department spokesman Const. Howard Chow.

While a number of gunshots were fired inside the house, said Chow, "it's not believed at this point that he was shot. It's believed that he was injured by an assault that took place inside of the house."

The man was alone at home at the time of the incident, he added.

Police also recovered three firearms, but Chow said he couldn't say what make they were or who owned them.

He also declined to identify either the injured man or the three suspects.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m., and police were still on the scene into the early evening, having cordoned off the 100 block of East 46th at Main Street.

Among area residents unable to get to their homes was Craig Lobzun, who said he was very surprised to see the police action.

"It's a great neighbourhood, never had any problems, he said. "It's always been quiet."

Chow declined to discuss one witness report that the men tried to flee in a car in the back alley.

He also would not say whether the home invasion was a targeted hit or if any of the men were known to police

i'm a bit bored while i'm here visiting my parents so i've been looking through some photographs. here's one of my mum and one of my parents, brother and me. i look so much like my mum.

also, i've never seen my dad without a moustache.

so i’ve only been away for a day but it feels like the longest day ever. after awkwardly waking gandy up from his snore filled, face in pillow, dead man’s nap, i got to the airport in lots of time and was able to get a really good seat on the plane. well at least a comfortable seat. after going through security and not having any problems (perhaps the first time ever) i set myself on a mission to find adam’s paintings. i wander down to gate c- nothing, gate b- nothing and then finally down to gate a- my gate. i couldn’t find them. after a quick call to adam i found them. i must be super stupid because the were directly beside me. idiot i am. they looked really good and this random dude kept staring at them and wandering back and forth between the two.

on to the plane. i got to sit in the emergency exit row on the aisle. that was pretty good. i had tons of room. but beside me was a business man that i had noticed before boarding. he immediately made some lame ass remark about how i got to the airport before him but he got on the plane before me. isn’t that funny? i quickly contemplated the possibility of pretending not to speak english and go for “i’m FRANCH”. i figured it could totally blow up in my face later so i stuck to the good old “my ipod is far to loud for me to hear you”. overly exaggerating taking it out of my ears each time he spoke to me. that seemed to work. he went on to snore the entire four hours. they guy beside him was way worse though. on westjet flights the crew likes to introduce themselves and be all jokey with the passengers. he took this to mean that he could call our flight attendant donna every chance he got. nattering her for the most ridiculous stuff. there was also this middle aged couple sitting across the aisle from me. yuck. i’ve seen way too much of this man’s ass than anyone ever should. i usually like bums but not this one! i had to travel all the way to halifax with this plumber. anytime he would stand up to let his wife out, his pants would creep down even more. and since i was sitting, his crack almost invaded my personal face space on a number of occasions. back to the nattering guy. about 3/4 of the way to toronoto he went to the bathroom. it was pretty obvious he needed to go because he had been letting out the most dreadful farts since calgary. anyway i curled up in my seat so he could get by. i decided that i would just stay like that since he’d mostly likely be back pretty soon. oh boy was i wrong. he didn’t come back for 35 MINUTES! i don’t even have to exaggerate that. moments after he came back to his seat, i overheard a flight attendant tell a man that his wife had just fainted in the bathroom. her husband thought it could be because she hadn’t eaten much but MY guess is there wasn’t any oxygen left in the bathroom after nattering guy finished in there. i feel bad for her though. that’ has got to be the worst. sick on a plane.

i got to leave most of the craziness from the first flight and jumped onto a flight from toronto to halifax. i sat with way better people. two marines going home to see family. they were pretty quiet which was super nice since i was unable to sleep a second on the first flight. the flight went really quick. i got to halifax this morning at 10:30 nova scotia time (6:30 vancouver time). my parents met me at the airport and my dad immediately handed me a coffee. tim hortons coffee. god it was good. my luggage was one of the first to come off the carousel so we grabbed it and ran. we got in the car and began our two hour drive to my parents house. but first we had to stop and see my great aunt annie. she lives in truro (the town my dad grew up in). truro is an hour away from halifax and an hour away from my parents home. we visited with her for a while. she has a brand new mini poodle puppy named tiger that i’m totally stealing and bringing back to vancouver with me. he would get along really well with kevin! after playing with the dog we went for lunch (breakfast for me). we had chowder. a big mother fucking bowl of chowder. so good.

after lunch we went to the grocery store where my dad works part time. the place is called FOODLAND! i’m going to take a picture of it. i really like the way it looks. it’s super ghetto just like the old store we both worked at. finally we managed to get to my parents house around 3:00pm. this place is so big. the house i grew up in wasn’t small but this place is HUGE. i’ve already walked into a closet thinking it was the bathroom. i blame it on not sleeping in nearly 30 hours. i had a nap a bit ago and was woken up to my dad making home made french onion soup. this man only ever cooks meat. it was pretty tasty. my mum has stalked the beer fridge with caesar making supplies so i’m about to go mix myself a little drink or two or three.

there isn’t any snow here yet so my army of snowmen will have to wait. in the mean time i shall be given a lesson on how to shoot my dad’s 22. fun times living in the sticks. i’ll take some pictures soon. i think i’m fully going to dress up like a hunter for my gun lesson. so that will defiantly need to be documented.

last night i got to have a lovely home cooked meal. i was invited to alev's house for a fantastic turkish meal. all the turkish people i know have a gift for cooking. alev's mum made this wonderful thing... i can't remember what it's called. it's meat and peppers and onions wrapped in filo pastry. wow. so good. she sent me home with one and i'm eating it right now. even better the next day. i love turkish people!

went to victoria and bought a new coat. i love it, but now adam and i look a retarded couple that dresses alike... or brother and sister who are still being dressed by their parents.
* * *
last week i worked 6 days in a row. a couple of which involved starting at 6am! way too early. my body just is not used to early dark cold windy mornings. the only great part about my job right now it the guarantee of two days off after working those days. ah the joys of being part of a union, a union i don't totally agree with. so how did i spend my days off you ask... well i shall tell you.

monday- gandy also has mondays off (and adam is in prince george). we both got up super early for some reason, well before 8:00. he made us coffee and we read the newspaper and talked in the kitchen for a bit. then moved to the front steps of our house. i love the front steps of our house. it was beautiful out. cold, crisp and sunny. gandy and i both had some errands to run so we went our separate ways for a bit. i went and got felt up by a girl, well not really. a girl changed the barbell in my piercing for me. now it won't snag on clothes they way it did before. then i went to oscars art book store and spent A LOT of money. i bought this book of drawings called "vitamin d" and an art history book that i really need since i'm not in school anymore. gandy and i both got home, he played video games, i drank more coffee and listened to a cha cha cha record. i took gandy to the keg for a birthday dinner! my parents sent me a gift certificate they had so we had a wicked meal for FREE! i had the sirloin with pecans and goat cheese and a side of garlic mashed potatoes (not salty like the ones jordy and i made) and gandy totally had the surf and turf! we were both ridiculously full of meat by the end. neither of us eat meat much any more. it was so good though. we went to bed with very full tummies.

tuesday- i felt as though i needed to have a 50s house wife kind of day. i did some dishes and grocery shopped in the morning. came home and made some banana bread with the million bananas in the freezer. while it was baking i made some little ghost decorations out of toilet paper rolls and dental floss for around the front door. i carved a pumpkin earlier this month but it's rather lame and the house really needed something else. then i made a birthday card for gandy since today is his actual birthday. i hope he liked it, it's not the best photo of him but i only have a couple to choose from. megan invited me over to hand out candy to the kiddies and to watch some tv which was a nice quiet halloween night (tomorrow is another day where i start at 6am). i got home a little while ago and used the super rad facial cleanser... apricot scrub. i'm so loving the way it makes my skin feel. i'm going to try and convince the guys to use it. then i we can all feel pretty and clean.

i need to go to bed... long day tomorrow. hopefully i'll get to watch ANTM at megan's.
* * *
had a mini party saturday. jordy came to town for the second weekend in a row! he and i made a pretty good dinner... a solid C+. i accidentally dropped a shit load of salt into our garlic mashed potatoes causing us to consume more sodium than anyone should at one time. we drank gin and tonics all night long. i think i drank way too much, way too fast.

there were more people at the party than this... it wasn't THAT small.

at this point in the night, jay kept trying to make me feel less drunk... he was unsuccesful.

the high lights of the night included the following...

- arm wrestling in the kitchen.
- dance party in the living room. thank god for gandy. he busted out the tunes and the moves making everyone want to hump up against each other.
- shooting things in the back yard with a really big pellet gun. we are white trash.
- danielle and i trying to out close-talk an unwelcome close-talker.
- drunken photo shoot on the front stairs courtesy of megan.

this is what happens when you give jordy a camera and me a bottle of gin.

i think gandy is pointing at his bellybutton but megan (and the phone) are pointing at something else.

i had to lay down on my bed for a bit at one point because my head was spinning. but was woken up by a call from caleb and chad. they were on their way and i needed to be ready to party. after they got here danielle and jordy went to bed. gandy hung out with us for an hour and then went to bed. adam got home (after climbing trees in the park) then went to bed. lucky me, i got to hang out with them all by myself. something that has never really happened before. usually there are a bunch of us. after doing some more drinking and some drugs caleb took a cab home at 4am but chad and i stayed up all night. we had ourselves a serious therapy session which involved him coming to the conclusion that i should see a doctor!

last night i experience the most pain EVER... well at least that i can remember. the kind of pain that immediately made me drop to my knees and brought tears to my eyes. after a night of drinking beers and smoking a couple of jays i went to my room to get ready for bed. i wasn't really paying attention to what i was doing when removing my bra, somehow the stupid little bit of lace got tangled around my barbell in my newly pierced nipple. i didn't notice when i yanked it off (yes i usually yank my bra off, don't you?). holy mother of god did it hurt. about 1000 times worse than having it pierced. i totally would have screamed but gandy was asleep and i didn't want to wake him up. instead i just curled up into a ball on the floor cupping my tit scared to look down, fearing that there could be blood or worse... a missing nipple. this happened about 12 hours ago now and my entire breast is still throbbing with pain.

I AM AN IDIOT!

i'm just killing some time before my brother gets here from burnaby so i thought i would post some pictures from the weekend. here's a quick summary of the weekend...

friday- picked up jordy, rachel and jordan from the ferry. immediately ate sushi. no one slept well.
saturday- megan made a pancake breakfast for us at my house. looked at gravity pope, shopped at american apparel, ate AND shopped at ikea. watched people not get out of the way for an ambulance. had fondue at megan's. saw danielle and spencer. went to shine with jess, kevin and my roommates. danced and drank. grabbed some bums. ate some burgers. smoked some pot.
sunday- lunch at milestones. more shopping. ate indian food. got stoned at iona beach (where the airplanes fly right over your head). watched welcome to the dollhouse.
monday- took everyone to the ferry. returned to an empty house.

there are people in my basement fixing the furnace. and the dude, who has the nastiest teeth ever, keeps calling me doll... not cool.

i should clean the house again... party on saturday people!
* * *
last night we went dancing. yes dancing. we NEVER go dancing. and i have to admit i had a fucking blast! carly has been drinking herself into a puddle every day so it was great that she suggest going dancing. (for those of you who don't know, carly's finance left her at the beginning of the month. their wedding was supposed to be next weekend. they were together for 14 years) we started the night at carly's where she polished off a bottle of wine before i even got there. we met megan in yaletown at bar none. it's a beautiful place. like a super nice basement with an awesome house band. we drank crantini's and then left because there was not nearly enough dancing going on. we made our way over to celebrities where trevor, faiyez, bali and others were going to be. when we got there the line was fully down at the other end of the block. carly got in line at the back and megan and i ran down the block to see if we could find the others... and we did! they were the next group to be let into the club. perfect timing. make others stand in line while we had drinks somewhere else. wonderful. we got in and danced. oh how we danced. i haven't been dancing since montreal with jordy and jim. there we SO many emily carr people there it was ridiculous including that guy that sat with us and smoked when we were setting up the grad show elif. the chatty guy with the hat. he's quite affectionate... if licking my neck is a sign of affection. anyways. here is the lovely carly in wedding dress dancing it up in her apartment last week.

i went to hope sunday and monday to see tyler before he moves to toronto for 4 years! when he gets back he'll be dr.linn. ahh we're growing up and getting REAL jobs. we went and got stoned at school house rock monday night. it was so nice. the river gets really deep at one point so everyone goes swimming there. beautiful. unfortunately by the time i thought to take a picture it was way to dark to see any thing.

i really like this picture. this is toby. a giant german shepherd who thinks he's really small. he tries to sit on your lap, all 150 pounds of him. anyways... this picture has a dog and a baby in it so it really can't get any better.
* * *
the last photo of sean before leaving canada. it's like 6:30am after a VERY short night. we were both a little disoriented that morning.

while i was in kamloops i got to surprise danielle at scoops! she gave me, megan and jay some free ice cream while we sat by the river. good times. she'll be for sure moving back to vancouver... yippie!

i still haven't finished the disposable camera that i got while in victoria. once i have it developed i'll post some of the great mini whale pictures i took, as well as that wonderful american women. "don... DON! are you watching? look over there don. did you see them don?" she was just precious.

* * *
busy busy busy. well not really. i only work 4 hours in the evening and i don't do much with my days. nights are usually spend playing video games with my roommates. adam started work a while ago and is in the middle of a block of graveyard shifts so we haven't been seeing too much of him lately. by the time he gets up, i'm heading off to work. when gandy gets home, adam's heading off to work. tonight gandy and i watched a couple of terrible movies. the faculty and ace ventura when nature calls. gandy kills me. he laughs so hard sometimes at really stupid things. he has a really good laugh. i thought i'd put up some random pictures that i had lying around. here they are in no particular order...

it's pretty entertaining living with boys. there's never a dull moment when they stick a giant pickle in their mouth. Read more... )
